I stumble upon Razali when I was doing some homework on our upcoming wedding reception at Felda Villa in Kuala Lumpur. I was looking for posts and reviews on the location and came up the blog post about the venue by FotobyRazali. I went through his blog post and was impressed by his review and also his photos of the reception held. All the images were beautiful and breathtaking. I was smitten. I knew I had to know him. So guys, this is the second installment of my Project Inspire 2012. The first photographer to be featured on this blog. I hope you will enjoy his pictures as much as I do.
Tell us a bit about yourself. Who are you? What do you do?
I’m a husband and a father of two little boy. I turned 28 just few days ago, 7th of March. Currently living in Ayer Hitam, Batu Pahat with my family & mom. I was born and raised in Batu Pahat ever since and not planning to move to other place since I love this place and found my comfort zone. Plus I’m taking care of my lovely mom. I capture great photos for a living. Preserving every moments of my family, friends & other people. I love portraits & nature.
What type of cameras do you shoot with?
About 5 years ago, my wife & me (my girlfriend at that moment) bought a Nikon D40x from a friend of ours. We shared the same interest, photographing everything around us. Now, my sister- in-law is using that camera. In 4 years, I bought 2 units of Nikon D90 and 1 unit of Nikon D300. Those cameras were great. But then I switch to Canon. Now I am using a Canon 5D Mark II with few prime lenses. 28mm, 35mm & 135mm. You might wonder why I switched, ask me personally. 🙂
If you could only shoot with one lens, which will it be? and why?
My choice would be a 35mm. Currently I own a 35mm f2. It’s not much, but I love the focal (length) & sharpness. I used to shoot with 50mm in one whole day trip. It was great but then I thought 50mm focal range is not enough for whole day trip. You may visit my 50mm trip: http://mohdrazali.com/landscape/single-lens-photography/
Who/what is your greatest inspiration?
I live in a great surrounding, a little village with people who migrated from Kedah to make a living in Johor. We have paddy fields here. That’s when I started to love photography. Sawah Sagil is my main source of inspiration. I go there almost every day if I had the chances.
What do you want to achieve?
To raise my family in a healthy living and preserve every moment of our life in photographs.
What 3 words would your friends use to describe you?
Passionate, visionary, cool – Saifuddin Salman (lol)
What is the message you want people to get from you and your work?
I wish they remember every single thing that happen the moment I photograph them and cherish it when they grow old.
If you could travel anywhere it would be?
India & Iran. I’ve been to Iran once but I hope I can explore more great places over there. India is on the list of 1000 places I must visit before I die.
Most valued material possession?
My camera & my eyes. 🙂
If you had one wish….
… finish my bucket list, 1000 places to visit before I die.
